Michelle Ryan
PhD student – University College Cork
Biography
Michelle Ryan is from Co. Tipperary, she obtained her degree in Analytical Chemistry from Limerick Institute of Technology, Limerick. She is a PhD student in Organic & Pharmaceutical Chemistry at University College Cork under the supervision of Prof. Anita Maguire and Dr. Stuart Collins, funded through the Irish Research Council Enterprise Partnership Scheme sponsored by Janssen, Little Island as industry partner. Her research is based on utilising continuous flow processing for the synthesis of organic compounds. Michelle’s research work in her PhD has focused on the anhydrous generation of sulfonyl azides on flow for the synthesis of α-diazocarbonyl compounds with a key focus on using in-line reaction monitoring (Flow IR) and investigating the use of continuous flow technology in achieving selective thermolytic deprotections of N-Boc amines.
