Federico Galvanin is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at University College London, UCL. He received the MSc degree in Chemical Engineering in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in 2010 from the University of Padova (Italy). After a post-doctoral activity in Padova, he was appointed as a research associate at UCL where he became a lecturer in 2015. His research interests lie at the interface between mathematical modelling and experimentation and focus on the use of model-based design of experiments methods for the development of predictive models of complex systems. He has published more than 65 articles in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters on the development of systematic methods and software tools for model identification using machine learning, optimal experimental design techniques (theory & applications) and their use and integration in autonomous reactor platforms. He is a member of the Sargent Centre for Process Systems Engineering (SCPSE) and an affiliate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Through collaborative research, he has secured > £2.5M from EPSRC and industry on the application of optimal experimental design to kinetic model development.
